Surface Treatment of Town streets
The Town has contracted KJ Beamish to complete approximately 2 km of Double Surface Treatment to several streets within the Town.
The work is expected to begin sometime in July and last for 2-3 days.
The work will consist of “pulverizing” the roadway (turning it back to gravel), adding new granulars to the road surface to correct the cross fall and then applying compaction.
The areas will receive 2 applications of surface treatment. The surface treatment operation will consist of a liquid asphalt being sprayed over the granular road surface. It is immediately followed up with an application of granular material. The treatment is then compacted by a rubber tire and steel drum compaction unit.
This process is then repeated for the second application.
Residents can expect dusty conditions for several days after the treatment.
For several days after the completion of the surface treatment the driving surface will remain in a “green state” especially if the weather is hot. We would ask that when driving on these “treated roads” that spinning of tires or heavy braking be avoided if possible.
Reduced speed will reduce the amount of dust generated.
Thanking you for your cooperation,
