Huron North Community Economic Alliance and Algoma Workforce Investment Corporation

HNCEA and AWIC are working together to produce short virtual townhalls that focus on specific topics and give local businesses a chance to ask more questions than they would in larger, province-wide webinars and teleconferences.

The first one will be held over Zoom next Tuesday, the 23rd from 10 to 11 AM. There is also a dial-in option for those who do not have internet.

This first townhall will give local tourism and related service sector businesses, such as restaurant owners, an opportunity to learn, ask questions and voice their concerns. The town hall will focus on the human side of reopening, such as consumer sentiment and how to attract customers back while making them feel safe.

We are lucky enough to have two excellent speakers, Agatha Podgorski, Director of Community Engagement for the Culinary Tourism Alliance and David MacLachlan, Executive Director of Destination Northern Ontario.

If you would like to share the event, the full event description and registration is here:

The survey asks questions about how the pandemic has affected physical and mental health, as well as social and economic well being. Canadian officials plan to use this information to assess the needs of communities, and put suitable support measures in place during and after the pandemic.
