Physician Recruitment Update

The Town of Thessalon has made addressing the physician shortage, the repeated hospital closures, and securing sustainable health care for our community a top priority. At times, it may have felt like progress wasn’t happening, but behind the scenes, it was.

And we want you to know that WE NEVER STOPPED. Working closely with our partners at the North Shore Health Network and the Huron Shores Family Health Team, we continued to advocate, push for solutions, and work towards the recruitment and retention of physicians in Thessalon.

We are SO PROUD to announce that we have officially signed TWO NEW PHYSICIANS, each committing to a 0.5 FTE practice, together making up one full-time physician compliment. These physicians will join Dr. McLaren at the Thessalon Clinic who signed on in May of this year! This milestone represents countless hours of work, advocacy, meetings, and delegations to the Ministry. We are incredibly proud to have reached this goal.

But our work doesn’t stop here. Now, we need our community!
