Council Vacancy Applications

The Town of Thessalon is seeking to fill one (1) vacant Councillor seat for the remainder of the 2022-2026 term of office.  The vacant Councillor position will be filled by appointment by way of application and as a result, no formal election will be conducted. 

Council is inviting those interested, to complete the Council Vacancy Application form and submit in person to the Clerk no later than Friday, April 4, 2025 at 3:00 p.m.

To be eligible, applicants must:

• Be a Canadian citizen.
• Be at least 18 years old.
• Be a resident, property owner, or tenant in the Town of Thessalon or their spouse.
• Not be prohibited from holding office by law.

As a member of Council, you will:

• Represent the interest of residents and the Town as a whole.
• Participate in decision-making regarding municipal policies, programs and services.
• Attend and contribute to council and committee meetings as required.
• Work collaboratively with other council members and staff to ensure the Town operates effectively and efficiently.
