On Saturday, May 24, in between morning and afternoon sessions of the Minor Ball Clinics, we took time to celebrate a major milestone at Lakeside Park Ball Fields — made possible by a $150,000 Capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF)! ⚾️💚
📍 During a special presentation, Mayor Jordan Bird and Lindsay Tallon, representing the Family Ball Tournament Committee, welcomed MPP Bill Rosenberg to recognize the incredible upgrades made possible by the grant.
Thanks to OTF’s support, we’ve made big improvements:
✅ Brand new dugouts with wider entrances
✅ Replaced backstops for added safety
✅ New magnetic bases
✅ Inclusive bleachers with accessible seating
🏟️ These enhancements make the fields safer, more inclusive, and more enjoyable — just in time for events like the Thessalon Family Ball Tournament!
💬 “Congratulations to the Mayor, Council, and everyone involved in making this exciting project a reality,” said MPP Bill Rosenberg. “The Town has made great efforts to make all areas of the community accessible and enjoyable for everyone. These upgrades will provide years of enjoyment and are a great example of what’s possible when provincial support meets community initiative.”
