The Town of Thessalon is pleased to announce that Dr. David McLaren has officially signed a contract to join the Huron Shores Family Health Team – Thessalon Site beginning June 2026. After serving the community as a locum physician, Dr. McLaren’s decision to join the team on a permanent basis is an exciting milestone that will help strengthen access to primary and emergency care services for residents of Thessalon and surrounding communities.
This recruitment marks an important step forward in the Town’s ongoing efforts to improve healthcare access and support long-term, sustainable physician coverage.
Mayor Jordan Bird shared, “We are thrilled that Dr. McLaren has chosen to make a long-term commitment to Thessalon after already getting to know our community through his locum work. Access to healthcare is one of our community’s top priorities, and this milestone reflects the strong collaboration between our municipality, Huron Shores Family Health Team, the North Shore Health Network, and our community supporters.”
Dr. McLaren will work alongside the healthcare team at the Thessalon site and continue supporting emergency department coverage in Thessalon alongside the Bruce Mines Physicians, Dr. Vine and Dr. Haapala.
The community looks forward to officially welcoming Dr. McLaren and helping him feel at home in Thessalon.
